Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently signed a violent game bill in to law. The law states that mature rated games may not be sold to children under the age of 17 without parental consent. Any violation of this law will be punished with a fine of up to $1000. Furthermore, all mature rated games must be labeled with a 2’ by 2’ sticker that notifies potential buyers that the game is for adults only. The law goes in to effect on January 1, 2006.

Nintendo’s Allowing You To Connect To The Internet… Finally Print E-mail

We didn’t believe it either, but it’s true. On November 14, Nintendo will unleash its wireless connection system on the world. Called the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, it will allow players to play DS games via wireless internet connection over the internet. For gamers without wireless internet connections handy, nintendo will sell seperately a Wi-Fi USB connector. Nintendo also plans to set up thousands of "hot spots," or Nintendo-sponsored places where people can go to connect to other gamers wirelessly. The first games to utilize this new system are Mario Kart DS and Tony Hawk’s American Sk8land, which will be out on November 14, followed shortly thereafter by Animal Crossing: Wild World, which will ship on December 5. Metroid Prime Hunters will also use it when it heads for retail in the first quarter of 2006.

There were several stories this week that were simply too small to write even a short synopsis about, so they've all been lumped in to one meal of an article. Like bagel bites, they're short and go down easy, but please folks, take 'em in nice and slow so as not to hurt yourselves. Ready?

--Splinter Cell got announced this week. It should be out in the Spring of 2006 for current consoles and the Xbox 360.

--SSX On Tour got pushed up. It will now be released on October 11 instead of the 25. Get ready, it's shaping up to be a pretty darn good game.

--Superman returns to current consoles and the Xbox 360, thanks to EA. The game will be based on the new movie and will be released on its opening day, June 30, 2006.

--Quake 4 has gone gold and is on track to meet its October 18 release date for the PC. The story revolves around... what do you care? It's Quake, for cryin' out loud! You shoot stuff, and it's fun.

MMMmmmmmm. News. You know you love it.
