Yesterday, the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) and the VSDA (Video Softare Dealers Association) filed suit against the California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and other members of the California State Government over the new law banning sales of violent video games to minors. The law also requires that all M-rated video games come packaged with a 2 inch square sticker that reads "18". They inyemd to have the law stricken from the books on first amendment grounds. We’ll have more as this develops. In the meantime, the law is set to go in to effect on January 1, 2006.

We didn’t believe it either, but it’s true. On November 14, Nintendo will unleash its wireless connection system on the world. Called the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, it will allow players to play DS games via wireless internet connection over the internet. For gamers without wireless internet connections handy, nintendo will sell seperately a Wi-Fi USB connector. Nintendo also plans to set up thousands of "hot spots," or Nintendo-sponsored places where people can go to connect to other gamers wirelessly. The first games to utilize this new system are Mario Kart DS and Tony Hawk’s American Sk8land, which will be out on November 14, followed shortly thereafter by Animal Crossing: Wild World, which will ship on December 5. Metroid Prime Hunters will also use it when it heads for retail in the first quarter of 2006.
